Cat–Cow with Pranayama for Energy Activation

This simple flow combines movement and breath to awaken the body, stimulate circulation, and bring an immediate sense of energy and presence.

How to practice:

  1. Start in a tabletop position (hands under shoulders, knees under hips).

  2. Inhale as you move into Cow Pose:
lift the chest, open the heart, and gently look forward.

  3. Exhale as you transition into Cat Pose:
round the spine, draw the chin toward the chest.

  4. At the end of the exhale, completely empty your lungs.
Gently draw your belly in, slightly lift your knees off the ground, and hold for 3–5 seconds.

  5. Release and exhale as you return to Cow Pose,
then take a full, deep inhale in Cow.

  6. Exhale back into Cat Pose and repeat the cycle.

Repeat for 5 rounds, moving slowly and intentionally with your breath.

Why it works:

This variation activates the core, increases oxygen flow, and stimulates the nervous system. The breath retention with empty lungs creates a subtle internal challenge that can leave you feeling more alert, grounded, and energized.
